12 years of multimedia know-how
1986-88: The five Guillemot brothers
create Ubi Soft, a producer, publisher,
and distributor of interactive
entertainment software. Major
American companies, such as
Electronic Arts, Sierra On Line,
Microprose, and Novalogic, rely on the
young French company to distribute
their software.
1989-90: The group creates its first
marketing subsidiaries, first in Great
Britain, then in the United States and
Germany.
1991: Ubi Soft tackles the booming
market of Nintendo and Sega game
consoles, publishing Star Wars, The
Empire Strikes Back, Street Racer, etc.
1995-96: Creation of an integrated
design and production structure. Ubi
Soft moves into Japan, Spain and then
Italy (1996).
1995-96: Market launch of the Rayman
game and creation of four product
lines: games, academic instruction,
arts instruction and software for
children.
1996-98: the successful issue of Ubi
Soft shares on the unlisted securities
market of the Paris Bourse (1996).
Launch of POD (1996) and F1 Racing
Simulation (1997), among others.
Founding of distribution subsidiaries in
Australia (1996) and Scandinavia
(1998), and creation of production
facilities in China (1996), Canada
(1997) and Morocco (1998).
Conclusion of European and
international licensing and distribution
agreements (Criterion, The 3DO
Company, Smart Dog, ANCO, Vertex,
Argonaut, Crystal Dynamics, etc.).
